2011-2012 Calendar of Events
Monty Brown :: Hello Louisiana
Tuesday April 10, 2012 :: 7:30 pm
A musical trip around America's most exotic and musical state
- Louisiana - opens to the spirited strains of our own "Goodbye
Bayou"; "Louisiana you've always been good to me, Cypress trees and
Spanish moss and poetry." Beginning in the northern parishes, we'll
explore the reels and ballads, gospel songs and blues of the earliest
settlers. Visit cotton fields along the Red River Valley and stop in
Arcadia, where the outlaw couple, Bonnie and Clyde, were gunned
down. We'll pick a little bluegrass, learn the secret of good Bar-B-Que,
skin some deer, and go on an alligator hunt. We'll tell stories of north
Louisiana's old time recording stars, Lead Belly, Jesse "Baby Face"
Thomas, and the Taylor-Griggs Louisiana Melody Makers.
